My Journey

I am a UK trained plastic surgeon, who has undertaken additional training in breast surgery. I offer a wide range of aesthetic procedures, although my main focus is on breast and abdominal surgery. I am a busy mum of 3 and I am passionate about supporting women in decisions about what is best for their bodies at all stages of their life.

I then returned in 2018 to my family and to establish a new microsurgical service in the Regional Breast Reconstruction Unit in the Belfast City Hospital. The great benefit of having gained experience in all of these very esteemed plastic surgery centres, was to establish a practice using the best techniques, but more importantly, cementing the ethos of of putting the patient at the centre of everything we do.

I commenced my plastic surgery training in 2007 in Belfast and after a number of brief breaks to have my 2 boys and accompany my husband to Canada for his fellowship, completed and gained my Fellowship in Plastic Surgery awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2017. In that time I had undertaken research alongside Elizabeth Hall-Findlay of Banff Plastic Surgery, a nationally appointed Joint Committee of Surgical Training fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in the St Andrews Centre Chelmsford, and a microsurgical fellowship in the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

I remain based in Belfast City Hospital, where I work with my oncoplastic breast colleagues to provide all elements of breast oncology and reconstructive surgery. I find my NHS work hugely rewarding, and working with a strong team has allowed us to flourish in a short time frame. I also currently undertake private work operating out of Kingsbridge Private Hospital and the Ulster Independent Clinic.

Some patients may wish to have an initial consultation via a virtual platform. That way I can find out a bit about you, what your concerns and hopes are, and we can have a preliminary discussion. You can choose to send me some photos in advance of your consult, but I find we have plenty of ground to cover, even if that isn’t something you are comfortable with.

Then, if surgery is something you want to pursue, I shall arrange for a face to face consult, where I can examine you and refine a surgical plan. In between times, we can send information and photos, that will help in your overall decision making. You will then be billed for the combination of these 2 appointments after the face to face (£250 in total), or if you decide you don’t want a face to face then you will be billed for just the virtual (£125). It’s a whole new way of doing things, but either way we reach the ultimate goal of having a well-informed patient, a comfortable professional partnership and a clear plan for the future!

For those patients where we have met face to face initially and you have had time to absorb the written information I have sent you, you will generally have a further telephone or face to face consultation with our nurse Pauline Doran-Williams.

The benefit of this is to hear about the procedure from another point of view, and you will cover a very useful range of practical topics to prepare you for surgery.

In this time, you will also have been contacted by either the One-to-One team from Kingsbridge, or my secretary from the Ulster Independent Clinic with an accurate pricing for your specific procedure.

With all of this information to hand, you can book a follow up virtual appointment with me which will have no charge. At this second consultation, we can then clarify any outstanding questions, and discuss scheduling.
